'Photo Journalism' workshop by Mr. Astro Mohan


Mangalore, August 13, 2019: 'Photo Journalism' workshop by Mr. Astro Mohan was taken place for Animation and Filmmaking students of iNurture at Srinivas University City Campus, Mangalore.

Astro Mohan is an International renowned photographer with over 25 years in Photo Journalism and currently works as a senior news photographer of a popular national Kannada daily newspaper Udayavani published in Manipal, India. He hails from Bellary and completed his early education as an art graduate.
Speaking of the various challenges of being a photojournalist, Astro Mohan recalled his encounter with story coverage of the temple elephant ‘Lakshmisha’ that went on a rampage in Udupi temple premises. Where Astro Mohan experienced a life and death situation. He also discussed experiences & challenges about his internationally awarded photograph 'Last Journey'.  Which was clicked on May 22, 2010, of an Air India Express Boeing tragedy in Mangalore that killed 158 of its passengers and crew.
From the historical background of Photo Journalism to its career scope, he shared the importance and ethics involved in the field. Sharing some camera techniques and photography tricks in his workshop, he concluded with an interactive session with the students. His experience in covering tragedies and news stories gave tremendous information and knowledge to students.
